Description
Within the project scope, existing data on target butterfly and moth species of Natura2000 sites in Croatia were analyzed and new field research was carried out in 2022 and 2023. The data on abundance and distribution of butterfly and moth species of interest to the EU in the Natura2000 designated for butterfly and moth species conservation were acquired. Based on the results, conservation objectives and measures for Natura2000 sites designated for butterfly and moth species conservation were proposed. The data were acquired using different methodologies, depending on the target species. Methodologies are described in the project report.

Sampling methodologies differ from species to species and they are described in the project report. In general, areas with insufficient data were identified within each Natura2000 site designated for conservation butterfly and moth species listed on the annexes of the EU Habitats Directive. On these areas new field research was performed.

Description des étapes de la méthode:
- 1. Desktop analysis of existing data on butterfly and moth species of EU interest 2. Identification of areas (1x1 and 10x10 km grid cells) with insufficient data 3. Field research targeted to the grid cells with the least data using different methodologies, depending on the species concerned, performed by butterfly and moth species experts 4. Identification validation performed by a leading butterfly and moth species expert 5. Data structured in an appropriate format and matched to DwC
